Recent record cold temperatures have Minnesota and Midwesterners alike flocking to the airport for an escape from the chill. Our Chief Revenue Officer Grant Whitney recently spoke with editor Adam Platt about how winter travel is ingrained in Minnesota’s culture, leading to pretty stable demand year after year.
But here, “the expectation is it’s going to be cold and tough, and those trips are ingrained in the culture,” said Grant.
Still, we’ve consistently and intentionally added routes and frequencies where we see demand rise, and primarily see record numbers of travelers in March – especially during spring break. Destinations like Orlando, Fort Myers, and Cancun remain among our most popular routes, but newer, longer haul routes like those to Grand Cayman, Roatan, and Belize are gaining popularity.
