This Veterans Day, we’re proud to spotlight Lisa Krieg, our Director of Business Intelligence and a U.S. Air Force veteran. From commanding airfields to leading data strategy, Lisa's career is a testament to how her military background has shaped her experience in the aviation industry.

Lisa joined us nine years ago, after beginning her civilian career in aviation at Northwest Airlines. Her Air Force experience managing airfields gave her a foundation in discipline and teamwork—values that continue to shape her leadership style. “After my active-duty service in the Air Force, I knew I wanted to start my civilian career in the airline industry. My time here has been an exciting and unique journey,” she says.

Today, Lisa leads a team dedicated to delivering the analytics that empower reliable decision-making at Sun Country. The use of our data platform has increased fivefold since Lisa joined our team, providing even more insight her team needs to make safe, efficient choices in daily operations.

"Putting actionable insights into the hands of our business teams and enabling self-service analytics has been a big focus," Lisa explains. "We’ve tied disparate data sources together to provide a more comprehensive picture, which ultimately supports our operational reliability."

Lisa has tackled her leadership positions just as she did in the military—with a strong focus on teamwork and discipline. “The leadership training I received, and the focus on teamwork in the military, has directly helped me in my role here,” she says. “It takes everyone across the airline to make it successful. The discipline each person brings to their role every day directly contributes to the success of the team and helps us navigate challenges and uncertainty.”

Our SVP and Chief Information Officer, Jim Stathopoulos, reflects on the qualities she brings to her work and his team: “Lisa's service as a veteran speaks volumes about her commitment and integrity. It’s truly inspiring to see how these qualities translate into her work.”

Lisa believes working at our airline is a natural fit for veterans: “There are opportunities for all veterans! Sun Country needs people who can work well in a team environment, which is a strength for those who have served in the military.”

At Sun Country, supporting veterans and the values they bring—connection, safety, and reliability—are woven into how we operate every day and in every area of our business. Whether that’s offering military members the chance to board early on our scheduled service flights, or operating charters for our armed forces or the folks at Honor Flight Twin Cities, we are always proud to work and fly alongside America’s veterans.

To Lisa and all veterans, thank you for your service, your unwavering dedication to our country, and the sacrifices you’ve made. You embody what it means to serve, to connect, and to keep moving forward. Together, we Fly Forward.
