Sun Country EVP and COO Greg Mays sat down with Star Tribune reporter Gita Sitaramiah to talk about what to expect this busy holiday travel season. In their conversation, the Sun Country leader shared travel tips and tricks for travelers as well as what to prepare for when traveling from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
Congestion is to be expected this holiday travel season, and no, not the kind you need to see your ENT doctor for. Thanksgiving travel means congestion at the nation’s airports because of a continuing strong desire to reconnect with friends and family over the holidays.
As mentioned in the article: “U.S. airlines are expecting an all-time high of nearly 30 million travelers through the 11-day Thanksgiving travel period from Friday, Nov. 17 through Monday, Nov. 27.” That’s a 9% increase compared to 2022.
How can people make this potentially historic travel period less stressful and more successful? Plan ahead. Along with patience, make sure all people in your travel party have packed their IDs and are at the airport a minimum of two and a half hours early. In addition to the tips and tricks Greg shares in his interview, we also have a checklist in this piece on how to hack holiday travel.
For this holiday travel season, pack your patience and remember, arriving early is a great way to reduce stress during an already stressful time.
