Last month, Hennepin Arts (previously Hennepin Theatre Trust) held their annual Spotlight Showcase at the historic State Theater in Minneapolis. The show is Minnesota’s largest celebration of high school theater and provides more than 1,600 students the opportunity to be on (and behind) stage in a professional theatre environment.
As a part of the show, the Spotlight Education program recognizes a handful of Minnesota high school theater students as “Triple Threats,” meaning they have shown distinction in singing, dancing, acting, stagecraft, and an overall demonstration of leadership, teamwork, and creativity.
As a sponsor, we are proud to provide these students with an all-expenses paid trip to New York City, where they attend Broadway shows, meet with professionals in the industry, and participate in workshops.
This year, students met with Triple Threat alum working in New York City, got a chance to rehearse with a Broadway music director, get monologue coaching from a Broadway actor, see multiple Broadway performances, in addition to other behind-the-scenes experiences.
Congratulations to these talented students! We look forward to seeing you on stage very soon.
