Living our values: Meet our 2025 Soul of Sun Country recipients

Soul of Sun Country, a recognition program founded by our Employee Engagement Team (EET) in 2022, recognizes employees who consistently embody our brand values and is the very highest distinction a Sun Country employee can receive. This award represents an opportunity for the company to recognize and celebrate exceptional employees who consistently embody our values to best serve our guests, community and fellow colleagues.
The following employees were nominated by their colleagues, for their hard work and dedication, and have been selected to be 2025 award recipients. Here is what their colleagues had to say:
Adam – IT: “Adam demonstrates exceptional attention to both IT and physical safety, often identifying and addressing potential risks. He collaborates seamlessly across teams, bringing a thoughtful and authentic approach to every interaction. As a key representative of the service desk, Adam consistently provides calm, knowledgeable, and friendly support—even in high-pressure situations. His leadership, resourcefulness, and steady presence reflect the best of what IT service should be.”
Amanda – Marketing: “She builds strong connections across the company—linking employees, leadership, and the public through her work in branding, communications, and media. Known for her reliability and positive attitude, Amanda wears many hats, including photographer, videographer, editor, and brand ambassador. Her dedication and versatility make her a standout contributor and a true representation of Sun Country’s values.”
Bailey – HR: “Bailey is a vital asset to her team, consistently aligning team structure with business goals and anticipating the needs of both leaders and colleagues. She takes initiative, thinks strategically, and exemplifies the HRBP role through her proactive support. Over the past year, she’s played a key role in onboarding new team members and also leads within EET. It’s a privilege to work with her—she is truly deserving of this recognition.”
Becky – Inflight Admin: “Becky builds strong, meaningful connections with the Flight Attendant trainees while emphasizing safety, reliability, and professionalism. She was a fair and inclusive role model, ensuring everyone felt supported. Becky effectively connected training content to real-world scenarios and handled questions with patience and clarity. When asked to train her peers, she led with confidence and grace, delivering hands-on instruction and demonstrating exceptional leadership and expertise.”
Erick – Below Wing: “Erick is a safety-first leader who consistently ensures operations run smoothly and securely. He’s built strong relationships across departments and with charter clients, earning trust through reliability and attention to detail. Erick takes initiative—volunteering for equipment checks, learning deicing, and supporting MLS charters with precision. His dedication and proactive mindset make him a key asset to Sun Country’s team.”
Kyle – MX Planning: “Kyle fosters an inclusive and engaging team environment, exemplified by initiatives like the "May Deferral Planning Challenge" that promote connection and motivation. He is exceptionally reliable, deeply involved in operations, and consistently makes smart business decisions to protect revenue. Kyle empowers his team by explaining the broader impact of their work and equipping them with the tools to succeed. His leadership style combines strategic thinking with a strong commitment to team development and operational excellence.”
Monique – Above Wing: “Mo is a dynamic and dependable team member who goes above and beyond to support colleagues and passengers alike. Her deep knowledge of Sun Country procedures, exceptional training skills, and natural gift for customer service make her an invaluable asset. Whether she's assisting at gates, mentoring new agents, or creating memorable moments for travelers, Mo brings energy, kindness, and excellence to every shift.”
Natalia – Reservations: “Natalia is a kind, supportive, and knowledgeable team member who always makes time to help others. Whether it’s training new hires, reinforcing policies with care, or encouraging growth, she leads by example and uplifts those around her. Her willingness to go above and beyond—even after formal training ends—makes her a trusted and valued colleague.”
Nick – Pilot: “Captain Nick Arnfelt embodies the "Soul of Sun Country" and is an example of a servant leader. He has spent the last few years as a line check pilot, providing training for the airline's newest first officers and captain candidates, and conducting line checks for existing crew members. Nick also serves as the chairman of the Sun Country ALPA HIMS committee, a program designed to provide a confidential and supportive environment for pilots to address substance use and mental health. Through this role, he dedicates his time to chairing meetings, mentoring peers, and supporting his fellow crewmembers.”
Paul – Maintenance: MSP: “Paul is a dependable and safety-focused team member who consistently ensures proper PPE use and adherence to procedures. He’s always willing to help, whether it’s mentoring colleagues, sharing his deep aircraft knowledge, or jumping in on rescue trips—even on days off. Paul’s commitment to efficiency, reliability, and respectful collaboration makes him a valued and trusted presence across the operation. You can always count on him to support the team and keep things running smoothly.”
Sheena – Executive: “Sheena brings warmth, professionalism, and precision to everything she does. She seamlessly manages complex responsibilities across all levels of the organization, always ensuring things run smoothly. Her positive energy and ability to stay composed in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment make her a trusted and uplifting presence. Whether coordinating logistics or supporting colleagues, Sheena consistently delivers with grace and excellence.”
Stacie – Flight Attendant: “Stacie's quick thinking and attention to safety have made a real difference. Known for her strong connections with both passengers and pilots, she’s often requested by name. Her leadership shines through in medical emergencies, time management, and her ability to keep operations running smoothly. Whether it’s spotting safety concerns before they escalate or stepping up to support her team, she consistently puts others first and embodies the highest standards of care and professionalism.”
Todd – Flight Ops: “Todd’s unwavering commitment to safety has guided his leadership across multiple roles in Flight Ops Management, especially when faced with high-pressure decisions. For over six years, he’s managed the Functional Check Flight program with tireless dedication - often working nights and weekends to ensure aircraft are safely returned to service. His pride in Sun Country is unmatched, and his willingness to step up whenever needed reflects a deep passion for the company. Todd’s integrity, work ethic, and loyalty make him an inspiring colleague and a true asset to our team.”
Today, these employees join a small group of recipients in receiving a Soul of Sun Country award. We are so proud of their achievements and so grateful for everything they do to lift us up as a company.
