On a recent flight, the experience was about more than just travel—it was about making a wish come true. In partnership with Make-A-Wish Minnesota, our team had the honor of flying Jase, a Make-A-Wish child bravely fighting a brain tumor to fulfill his wish.

Jase was beyond excited to visit a popular theme park in Florida to meet characters, see animals, and enjoy time with his family. However, there was one thing he hoped to include in his wish trip: his beloved St. Bernard Kevin. Unfortunately, Kevin couldn’t make the journey, but that didn’t stop the Make-A-Wish team and our employees from finding a way to include him.

The Make-A-Wish team printed a photo of Kevin and mounted it to a stick. When our gate agent, Tracy, heard about it, she took the extra step to ensure “Kevin” was waiting on board for Jase. Tracy placed the photo of Kevin onto Jase’s seat before boarding, so when Jase stepped onto the aircraft, he was greeted by a familiar face and was ready to take off for his wish trip.

“At Sun Country, we strive to provide amazing and personalized service to all customers,” said Tracy, an above wing customer service agent. “Make-A-Wish families make each flight feel even more special. We get to see firsthand the impact we have when our team works together.”

Tracy wasn’t the only one who felt the magic that day—Make-A-Wish staff felt it too: “The gate agent was so kind and really went above and beyond to make Jase feel welcome,” said Rachel Kvanbeck, program manager at Make-A-Wish. “Seeing Kevin in the seat, coming along for the journey, made for the perfect start for Jase’s wish trip.”

As a longtime partner of Make-A-Wish Minnesota, we help fulfill travel wishes for children experiencing critical illnesses. In 2024, we completed 182 flights for wish kids, which is nearly 100 more than in 2023. Not only do we provide flights for wish children and their families, but we also host two annual events to support Make-A-Wish Minnesota.

Our annual Flight to the North Pole welcomes a multitude of Make-A-Wish children and families to MSP’s Terminal 2 where they are transported to Santas' workshop full of games, food, and activities. Make-A-Wish Minnesota will also be the beneficiary of our food truck fest and airplane pull fundraiser for the fourth year this September.

We are committed to making every flight feel personal. For Jase, that meant making sure his best friend could be part of the wish he dreamed of, and we’re proud to make that wish come true.
