What better way to celebrate World Tourism Day than by thinking about your next trip?
As the weather turns colder, we can’t help but turn our attention to the beach. To our fellow Minnesotans who need that sunny escape to look forward to when temps turn sub-zero, we hear you! We also want to make sure that your warm weather getaway doesn’t break the bank, so we’ve compiled some of our best tips and tricks to help make sure you get the most out of your winter vacation.
Book early
And as they (okay, we) say, the early bird gets the beach chair. It may be the most obvious of our tips, but it truly is best to get your trip locked in well ahead of time because it often comes with the best prices – particularly if you’re looking to travel internationally or during peak times like Spring Break. Booking early also means more availability for things like hotel rooms, excursions, seat selections, and more, giving you the biggest chance of scoring that true oceanfront room you’ve been eyeing.
Book your flight and hotel together
When you book an air and hotel vacation package with Sun Country, you get to take advantage of great deals on airfare and special hotel offers from our partners. That’s like double the savings! Oh, and speaking of double: if you’re a Sun Country Rewards member, you can earn two points per dollar spent on your entire vacation package, too.
Book with points
If you’re a Sun Country Rewards member, you probably already know this. If you’re not, well… we recommend signing up for a free account. Redeeming points is easy, and there are no blackout dates meaning you can travel where you want, when you want. Additionally, unlike other loyalty programs, Sun Country Rewards points can be combined with cash when you book, which is one of our favorite money-saving tips. You don’t need to wait until you’ve amassed enough points to cover the cost of a whole trip, you can take advantage of those savings at any point.
Book off-peak
If you have the flexibility in your schedule, consider treating yourself to a winter vacation when things are a little slower. January and February are great times to escape the cold and still beat some of the bigger crowds that you’ll find in March and April. If you don’t have as much flexibility thanks to things like work or school schedules, consider flying during the week. Air and hotel fares tend to be cheaper on days like Tuesday or Wednesday than they are on the weekends.
