Taking your first trip with us? Welcome aboard. We’re all about making travel feel simple, flexible, and affordable—without any guesswork. If you’ve never flown Sun Country before, here’s a quick guide on what to expect from the moment you book to the time you settle into your seat.Â
First things first: we do things a little differently, and that’s by design. We’re a low-cost airline, which means you only pay for what you actually use. You’ll see this right away when booking your ticket—our base fare gets you a seat on the plane and a personal item that fits under the seat in front of you. Want to bring a full-size carry-on or check a bag? You can add those when you book or later through Manage My Trip.
And when it comes to choosing where to go—we’ve got you covered. Our network connects you to some of the most popular vacation spots in the U.S., Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean. In the summer months, we really spread our wings, flying coast to coast with nonstop service to warm beaches, big cities, mountain towns, and everything in between. Whether you’re headed to California wine country, the Upper East Coast, or somewhere in the Midwest that feels like home, we make it easy to get there without breaking the bank.

Next up, seats. You’ve got options. Prefer a window seat? Like the idea of stretching out in an exit row? Want to sit near the front so you can be first off the plane? You can select your seat when you book for a fee. Or skip seat selection and we’ll assign one at check-in—it’s totally up to you.
Pro tip: if you’re traveling with family or friends and want to sit together, booking seats ahead of time is worth it.
When it comes to packing, here’s where it pays to plan. Our travelers are savvy—many pack light and fly with just a personal item to keep things simple and affordable. Think backpack, tote, or small duffel. But if you need more room, no problem. Carry-ons go in the overhead bin, and checked bags are great for longer trips or if you’re hauling home souvenirs. Just keep bag size and weight limits in mind—we post those clearly online so there are no surprises at the airport.Â
Speaking of the airport, we fly out of Terminal 2 at MSP, where everything’s a little more streamlined. Shorter security lines, less walking, and easier boarding. Got bags to drop? Our Airport Customer Service Agents will get you squared away quickly.Â

Once onboard, you’ll be greeted by our friendly crew. Our seats offer a comfortable ride (yes, even in our standard seats), and you can purchase snacks, grab a drink, and connect to our free onboard entertainment using your personal device to pass the time. Settle in, relax, and let us get you where you’re going.Â
