Sun Country Airlines is proud to partner with STARBASE Minnesota, a science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) focused organization that provides students with “hands-on, minds-on” activities in a state-of-the-art, technology-rich environment. Founded in 1993, STARBASE Minnesota has served over 62,000 students in the Twin Cities.

Recently, Sun Country Captains Laura and Brianna McMahon volunteered at STARBASE’s "STEM at Work" event where local fifth grade students rotated between a variety of stations hosted by local companies for eight-minute interactive demonstrations on how professionals use STEM in their careers.

Laura and Brianna taught students how pilots plan their trips and demonstrated the technology they utilize on a daily basis to help guide their flights. Students had the opportunity to ask questions and walked away with their own set of wings and a foam penny plane.

We are looking forward to participating in our next STEM at Work event on July 19, 2023!
